There’s always a story.
Before their wedding Kristen explained to us that her and her husband would be releasing butterflies after their ceremony at Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg. There’s an incredibly heart touching story behind this symbolic act. Kristen told us that her grandmother, sadly, had passed away just a few months before their wedding and butterflies were released there. As the butterflies were released at the funeral, a single butterfly landed on Kristen’s father’s left shoulder. We knew that the butterfly release would be very important to Kristen and her family so we made sure to pay special attention, and to our surprise one, single, butterfly landed on Kristen’s father’s same shoulder. It’s such an honor to be able to witness such an event and feel the love fill the air in the gardens.

Kristen and Sai readied themselves at their homes in St. Petersburg, Kristen wasn’t quite nervous, but very anxious.
Just as things seemed to be coming together for Kristen and her bridesmaids, one of the girl’s dresses ripped and one had a sash that was not the correct color! yikes! Luckily, David’s Bridal in Tampa was able to quickly remedy the situation, thus saving a potential disaster. Disaster averted, Kristen and her girls headed to beautiful Sunken Gardens for their wedding ceremony which was just down the road from their home in St. Petersburg.
After the wedding ceremony, we spent some time with Kristen and Sai, walking the gardens and getting some great bridal portraits. Since Sunken Gardens is home to a lot of regular tourists, we felt like we on a garden tour instead of working.
We then took a jaunt down the road to Ruth Eckerd Hall which is located in Clearwater for their reception. The family celebrated their wedding with a lot of laughter and dance. Ruth Eckerd Hall is one of the coolest and fun places to photograph a wedding reception!
