It’s been a while since our last post, for a few reasons. Like my brother says… “Who has time to blog when you’re working your butt off”! We have been slammed and any free time we get is with the family! Though we love a bit of blogging we love life too and wanna have fun living it. We have been in the process of shooting about 32 weddings, 20 or so engagements, in and out of town shooting a few ads and bands for Sabian cymbals with Guruz Media. You may have seen this post we did – “Something you may not know about Reid” We had to have a vacation, and went to North Carolina, Should have some pictures of that up soon. You can check out everything we are doing on our Facebook! I wanted to do this blog Long ago but got a little busy :) Now I have a day before i go back out with Guruz to Philadelphia and throw in a trash the dress session and a few other things.

Kristy & Mike! Mike happens to be the coolest guy in the world. I say that because after our engagement photo session I received a text message one evening. “Hey, lets go get a beer” I didn’t recognize the number so i asked “who’s this?” The reply was “The coolest guy in the world!” Just my kind of people! We love our couples and actually like spending time with them to get to know them and actually be friends! We happened to have a few drinks the night of their engagement shoot and have been trying to get back together since. I’ve been a bit busy though, sorry Mike! We’ll get out soon. I plan on calling or texting in the next week or two. So I got a call from a really sweet sounding bride named Kristy! We planned a time to meet so I could meet her and her insanely huge, muscle man fiance Mike. Side note – Kristy and Mike have the best teeth I have ever seen!

I usually meet at an office in Ybor city. We happened to meet at a Panera this time…. I think. Its been a while. They both walked in with nice smiles and I shook Mikes hand as he crushed mine. I got to know them a little bit before jumping in to the stupid sales-y part of stuff. I hate talking sales. I’d just rather hang out and have fun. Kristy mentioned she wanted the best wedding photography she could find and Loved the way 12-1Photography has such a relaxed look to all our wedding pictures! Thats a comment we get a lot. We constantly and painstakingly study people, interaction and comfortable posing in order to get the best photography poses out of our couples for their Wedding or engagement photo’s. No matter what, we can’t settle for mediocre and don’t think anyone should, especially for their wedding pictures. Mike and Kristy wanted unique, creative, fun and relaxed wedding photography and engagement photography.

Kristy & Mike decided 12-1Photography was the best wedding photographers for them and we got going scheduling their engagement session. Since they just moved here from up north a bit,… think they said Pennsylvania. I could be wrong. They had no clue where to do their engagement pictures. I though about it and suggested Ybor city. They like that kind of feel and it happens to be a great place for pictures if you know where to look. We did the engagement shoot in Ybor! We started around 4 or 5ish while the sun was still out. I think i might be one of the only photographers in the world who happens to love being out in full sun light for a shoot. I love the challenge of creating dynamic wedding or engagement pictures in the sun. We ran all over ybor had some fun, and stopped in to First Chance Last Chance Bar which happens to be a perfect little bar for a good hang out time. We did a few pictures in the bar, had some drinks and left as friends and very happy with the way the day unfolded! Here’ s Kristy & Mike’s engagement Pictures. Hope you enjoy and keep an eye out for the two part finale at the end. Its pretty great. Thanks to Mike and Kristy for and awesome photo session. We are pretty stoked to photograph your wedding!

We had the privileged of meeting Krystal & Nick at a bridal show last year where they won a ton of stuff! I think they won 2 honeymoons, flowers, dress, and who knows what else. It was a lot. We had the privileged of meeting Krystal & Nick at a bridal show last year where they won a ton of stuff! I think they won 2 honeymoons, flowers, dress, and who knows what else. It was a lot. Since winning all that, they decided to splurge on their wedding photography and hire 12-1Photography! YEAH! We were excited when we got the call to go meet them and discuss their wedding photography needs.

Krystal & Nick decided to have their engagement photography session at the University of Tampa which happens to be a great place for any type of fun photography. We have yet to photograph a wedding at the University of Tampa. We’ve done many cool engagement photo sessions there! Krystal & Nick were excited and slightly exhausted from moving the day before but ready to rock out their engagement session with 12-1Photography! Nick likes Nacho Libre a bit and I hear there might be a plan to bring some nacho libre masks to the wedding to use in the Wedding Crasher! We’re pretty excited about that, if it happens! You better get on that Nick! We had a really great time walking around the University of Tampa finding great locations for cool engagement pictures. Here’s a few favorites. Let us know what you think!

Megan & Josh are one of the coolest, most comfortable couples i have had to opportunity to photograph. Its like they were born in front of the camera! I’m not even as comfortable on the other side of the camera as they are. Though, all this could have something to do with my awesome ability to make people very comfortable with me! Ok, maby not. They were pretty awesome all by themselves.
It had been quite blustery in the Tampa area for a few days. I called Megan (concerned about her hair blowing) No big deal to her! They were ready to have some fun plus, Josh had just gotten his teeth whitened so he wasn’t about to miss this! We started out at the University of Tampa, which is always a beautiful place for engagement pictures! We took our time at the school, then decided to get in the car and drive around Tampa to see what we could find as great backgrounds for their engagement pictures. I happened to have a few places in mind which don’t get photographed too often. If you take a look off the side roads, Tampa is a great place to photograph engagement pictures, or pictures of any kind. I love Tampa and the surrounding areas and the fact that Tampa has some of the best places to photograph anything, if you know where to look! Here’s a few of my favorite pictures from Megan & Josh’s Engagement Session.

Florida is hot as hell | Taylor & Amanda

July 3rd, 2010

I never thought it would happen but my good friend Taylor asked his girlfriend Amanda to marry him! As the title says, Florida is hot as hell! and sometimes its a little difficult getting really awesome engagement pictures in the humidity but I had the amazing help of two insanely great looking models,…Taylor and Amanda! We tried to photograph their  engagement pictures Lakeland but it rained. We just couldn’t seem to shake the rain so we stopped for some lunch in the down town Plant City. It kept raining and we kept being bummed out but still had hope! We wanted to get some pictures in the hard rain later because that’s always really cool and romantic, but needed to get the regular ones first. It finally stopped! YEAH!! We went out in the extremely awesome heat and humidity that so often comes after a Florida summer rain. We walked around racking our brains for pictures that would show the least sweat and look really cool. I love the Look of really good looking people in slightly run down areas and Plant city has it, plus they have some nice places to shoot pictures too. We were at our first run down building on the front porch like thing. Old rotting wood, sheet metal and the smell of fresh rain. we started taking the first picture when a woman came out of the door and asked what we thought we were doing there! Oh, hmmm? We said “Taking pictures of-course” She promptly told us to leave and was quite rude about it so we left and found so many other cooler places to shoot. That’s the first time I’ve ever been kicked out of a place during a photo shoot. No matter, Ya can’t put a damper on LOVE! We had a great time hanging out and getting really great, awesome, cool pictures! Plant city is one of my many favorite places to do photo shoots. Taylor & Amanda are having their wedding at Hollis Garden in Lakeland. I’m pretty exited about that! I have always wanted to photograph a Hollis Garden Wedding! I’m also very excited about the yellow color theme Amanda has planned for her wedding! Here’s a few of the pictures we got during Taylor and Amanda’s fun Plant City engagement session! With the help of some wonderful new friends of mine (Pon & Joe ) we have created the new face of Engagement Photography in the Tampa, St.Pete area and possibly the world! We started talking about me photographing their wedding about 6 months ago or longer. In the process of wedding talk we started making plans for their engagement pictures. Pon and Joe both agreed they didn’t just want the regular cheesy engagement pictures of them looking at the camera or looking away from the camera in some sort of lovey dovey pose so I said lets go extreme with this. They agreed! They wanted to have some really cool engagement pictures to look back on years from now. We decided to tell a story of LOVE and tried to incorporate everything that could happen in a relationship within these few “engagement pictures”. Relationships have their ups and downs, their dreams, realities, break ups and make ups! Here’s what we came up with for Pon & Joe’s engagement pictures at a house in St. Petersburg.

Jennifer & Bobby’s wedding is coming up in February so we needed to get their engagement pictures done really soon. They have been working on their house all year or have been out of town and we haven’t been able to do their pictures. The only day we both had open just happened to be the coldest day in Tampa’s history! I don’t actually know the high for the day but I think it was around – 30 – Thats freakin cold! We all had fun though!

Mine and Matt’s fingers were so numb it was hard to feel the knobs to change camera settings and of-course when you are that cold it’s just funny! Looking at the first picture, you’d never know it was that cold. Jennifer didn’t want all the pictures to be bundled up shots so she decided to brave the cold!

We walked around Ybor for a while, wracking our frozen brains for shots for their engagement session and finally decided on getting hot chocolate at a local shop called the Bunker. The bunker is a really great coffee and cafe place with local art on the walls and a really cool atmosphere that makes you want to stay. If you get a chance while visiting Tampa, go there!

Here’s a few more shots we had the awesomely fun privilege of photographing for this really great couple. Can’t wait for the wedding!

Bobby decided to reenact the way he asked Jennifer out – Pretty freakin funny!

We were contacted by this really great couple a few months ago to photograph their engagement and their wedding!  We set the date for the engagement photo’s and went out to shoot at the location where Matt proposed! It was going to be a perfect location to shoot. It started sprinkling a little and we thought it would be fine. We walked down the boardwalk as the rain got a little heavier, I thought no problem its Florida, It’ll stop in a few min and we’ll be great. It didn’t stop -EVER! It rained extremely hard and we tried to force a few pictures out since we had gone through so much planning to do this.

We did capture this picture which i think is cool.

Heidi was a little upset with the rain and we agreed to reschedule her engagement shoot after the rainy season.

Its the day of the new engagement shoot and the weather has been great for a while! We decided to do their other engagement pictures at the University of Tampa which is the place for engagement photography. We ran across two or three other photographers that day, all shooting engagement pictures! As soon as we got there it started raining again! It would rain and stop off and on. So we hopped out for some shots when it would stop and back in when it started again. Here are a few shots from the day.

Heather and Greg are the coolest! We were able to hang out with them for a long time one evening in St. Petersburg for their engagement photography session, and when i say a long time i really mean a long time! We started photographing at 4 pm and after a ton of fun, some pictures, dinner, clothing changes, and just goofing off we finally finished at 11pm! It was so much fun doing their pictures, they were up for anything and everything. I asked for their suggestions and they gave a few and we had a great time. We shot their engagement photos in Straub Park next to the Vinoy hotel and Vinoy park.
